Frederic Romain-Gilles is a French-American artist, born in 1959 and living in Burgundy since 2016.
In addition to his career as a researcher in molecular biology, he has been working as a visual artist since 2010. Working mainly on paper, he explores the themes of memory, imprinting and traces of the recent past, using news photographs that he modifies with dry pastels in an attempt to revisit the daily news. Using oils and acrylics, he also explores the ancient past. Inspired by parietal art, his work borders on abstraction, giving rise to silhouettes of forgotten pasts. He exhibits his works in France.
